Sessions & fees

Support that fits the work.

All therapy is offered virtually to clients across Ontario. Sessions are 60 minutes, and many people begin by meeting weekly.

Why virtual therapy can help

OCD, phobias, panic and health anxiety often show up most at home, in everyday routines or out in your community. Virtual therapy lets us work right where the problem actually happens, and it makes treatment easier to access when leaving home is hard. With a phone in hand, exposure work can move off the screen and into your kitchen, your neighbourhood, a store or anywhere else that matters.

Therapy intensives

Need more support than weekly sessions?

I also offer therapy intensives for people who need more support than weekly sessions can give. If that sounds like you, ask me about options during your free consultation.

Fees

Clear from the start.

Sessions are 60 minutes. HST doesn't apply to psychotherapy services, and payment is due at the end of each session.

Your first appointment is a 90-minute intake session, where we map out what's going on and start building your plan together.

Insurance

I don't offer direct billing, but you'll receive a receipt to submit to your extended health plan for reimbursement. Many plans cover Registered Psychotherapists, so it's worth checking yours before we begin.

Sliding scale

If you're struggling and can't afford therapy at the full rate, I offer a sliding scale on a case-by-case basis. Please don't hesitate to ask.

Questions, answered

Before we begin.

Starting therapy can feel like a big step. Here are answers to the questions people ask me most.

How much does therapy cost?
Individual sessions are 60 minutes and cost $275. Your first appointment is a 90-minute intake session for $400, and the 20-minute consultation is free. My fees reflect my specialized training in OCD, phobias, panic and health anxiety. Payment is due at the end of each session. If cost is a barrier, I offer a sliding scale on a case-by-case basis. Intensives are tailored to each person, so we'll talk through fees during your consultation.
Is therapy covered by OHIP or insurance?
Unfortunately, psychotherapy with a Registered Psychotherapist isn't covered by OHIP. Many extended health plans do cover RPs, though. I don't offer direct billing, but you'll get a receipt after each session to submit to your plan for reimbursement, so it's worth checking your coverage before we begin.
How are sessions conducted?
All sessions happen over a secure video platform that meets Canadian and Ontario privacy laws (PIPEDA and PHIPA) and CRPO standards. Before your first session, you'll get access to a secure client portal, where I can also send you messages and handouts. Most people start with weekly or every-other-week sessions to build momentum. Practice between sessions is an important part of the work too, and we'll decide together what that looks like for you.
Where are you located?
I'm a travelling therapist, and I'll be working from Latin America this winter. All sessions are virtual, so it doesn't matter where I am. What matters is that you're in Ontario during each session.
Do you offer support between sessions?
Yes. When it fits your plan, I can coach you between sessions, usually during an exposure or when you're really triggered and the tools you've practiced aren't helping. It's not crisis support. We'll go over how it works when we start.
How long will I be in therapy?
It's different for everyone and depends on what you're working on. Either way, the goal isn't for you to need therapy forever. You'll learn the skills to become your own coach, so you can respond differently to unhelpful thoughts, urges and emotions and keep building a life that fits your goals and values.
Are my sessions confidential?
Yes. What you share with me is kept confidential and isn't shared without your consent, with a few exceptions required by law: if there's a serious risk of harm to you or someone else, if a child may be at risk of abuse or neglect, if records are ordered by a court, or in other situations the law requires. I'll go over my privacy policy and these limits with you at the start of therapy.
What if I need to cancel or miss a session?
Please let me know at least 48 hours in advance if you need to cancel or reschedule. Except in extenuating circumstances, sessions missed or cancelled with less than 48 hours' notice are charged the full fee. Life happens, so I waive one late-cancellation fee every 12 months.
Do I need a diagnosis?
No. Together, we'll look at what you're experiencing, decide whether this practice is a good fit and build a treatment plan. As a Registered Psychotherapist, I don't provide formal diagnoses. If you need a diagnostic assessment, your family doctor, a psychiatrist or a psychologist can provide one.
Can exposure therapy really work over video?
Yes. Research supports ERP by video, and virtual sessions have a real advantage. We can practice in the places where symptoms actually show up, like your kitchen, your commute or a grocery store, instead of just talking about them in an office.
Will I be pushed into things I'm not ready for?
No. We plan exposures together and build them step by step. You help choose each step, and the aim is practice that feels challenging but doable. You'll never be ambushed by your worst fear.
Do you offer crisis support?
No. This practice can't provide crisis or emergency support. If you're in crisis, call or text 9-8-8 (Suicide Crisis Helpline) any time, call 911 or go to your nearest emergency department.
