Therapy intensives

More support, when you need it.

Sometimes weekly sessions aren't enough to build momentum. An intensive packs the work into a shorter stretch of time, so you can make real progress sooner, with more support along the way.

Why intensives help

Momentum matters.

Research suggests intensive exposure therapy can work as well as weekly treatment, in a much shorter time. Here's why a faster pace can make a difference.

  • Less time for fear to regain ground

Fear thrives in the gaps. With a week between sessions, avoidance and compulsions can quietly creep back in. Meeting more often keeps the work moving forward.

  • More practice, with support

Facing fears is a skill, and skills grow with repetition. An intensive means more guided practice, with someone alongside you when it's hardest.

  • Practice where life happens

Because sessions are virtual, we can do exposures where your fears actually show up, like at home, on your commute, in a store or anywhere else that matters to you.

  • Change you can feel sooner

Seeing progress early can build confidence and motivation, which makes the next step feel more possible.

Is it right for you?

Who an intensive can help.

An intensive can be a good option for OCD, phobias, panic and health anxiety. It may be a good fit if:

  • Your symptoms are taking up a large part of your day
  • Weekly therapy hasn't brought the change you were hoping for
  • You're preparing for something specific, like a flight, a medical procedure or a big life change
  • You'd like focused progress within a shorter period of time
  • You're able to set aside dedicated time and energy for the work

An example

What an intensive might look like.

Every intensive is shaped around you, so there's no fixed package. Here's one way it could unfold.

  1. 1

    Assessment and planning

We start with an in-depth assessment to understand what's going on, set clear goals and build your exposure plan together.

  2. 2

    Concentrated sessions

For a few weeks, we meet several times a week, often in longer sessions, so there's time to practice exposures together rather than just talk about them.

  3. 3

    Coaching in between

Between sessions, I can coach you through exposures as you practice. That way, you have support in the moment, not just in session, and your momentum keeps going.

  4. 4

    Stepping back down

As your confidence grows, we taper to less frequent sessions, with a plan to keep your progress going and handle setbacks.

The number of sessions, their length and the pace can all be adjusted as you go. We'll talk through your options, including fees, during your free consultation.
